Riverside Villa near Ferreira do Zezere

Built in 2004, the property has 110m2 of floor space with a further 300m2 of outdoor terrace made entirely in local stone. An area of exquisite beauty, we were fortunate to see an eagle gliding on the pockets of warm air as we wound down the hillside road, following the river to the property.

The terrace has plenty of space for entertaining in front of spectacular views of mountains, the river and forests as well as being large enough for a pool to be installed. There is also space for a garage to be built alongside the house. A BBQ has been built on the terrace to cook the fish caught in the river only 30 seconds away. Olive and Fig trees have been left to grow around the terrace’s perimeter.

Throughout the inside of the property the décor is tasteful and minimalist. The only work necessary upon arriving at the property is cleaning the windows and floor and painting the internal walls. Terracotta floor tiles have been laid throughout the house which go beautifully with the wooden fittings.

The property was built with rental in mind, so each bedroom has it’s own built in wardrobes and ensuite bathroom with bath/shower, sink and toilet. In total there are four bedrooms, or three and one downstairs office. The master bedroom has a space for a baby’s crib, smaller bed, or sofa area.

All of the bedrooms have access to the wide and comfortable terrace running the length of the face of the house. An ideal place to sit during the evening while the sun sets behind the hills and reflects off the water.

Downstairs there is a family bathroom, a large bedroom/office, a lounge with open fireplace and a modern kitchen with double sink and granite work surfaces.

The uppermost floor is a large room of 110m2, pre-plumbed for a kitchen or bathroom. This room is yours to do as you wish with, though it would be well worth trying to make the most of the beautiful views from this high vantage point.

All windows are double glazed and all central heating fittings have been installed except for radiators.

The road to the river is a simple track, while there is also a pedestrian path. A friendly bar is two minutes away on foot. The river has a long beach and various activities organized during the summer. People sail their boats, go fishing and swim in the waters all year long. The nearest town, Vila do Rei, is approx 5mins away and has libraries, schools, supermarkets, restaurants and modern amenities.
