Light and airy, painted matt white with laminate wooden flooring, the large living room features a fireplace and two hanging candelabras. Effectively divided in two by the fireplace, one part of the room acts as a lounge with the other used as a second dining area.

BATHROOM 1
Downstairs contains a newly refurbished, modern and sparkling bathroom. The units are wooden and granite whilst the floor and walls are covered with ceramic tiles. Inside the bathroom there is a shower, toilet, bidet, and sink.

BEDROOM 1
The first bedroom as you walk through the house currently contains a large double bed and several items of dark-wood storage furniture. Painted matt white with laminate wooden flooring, the bedroom benefits from shared access to the property’s veranda through sliding glass doors. This room also benefits from electric air conditioning unit.

BEDROOM 2
Equal to the first bedroom, however containing a single bed (with space for a double) and a large dark-wood double wardrobe.

GROUND FLOOR
Access between the two levels of the house is via a beautiful hand crafted varnished wood stairway. Light floods into this area through a large, beautiful stained glass window made locally.

SECOND LOUNGE
The large space downstairs serves as a second reception room. It is accessed directly by both the stairs and the door to the patio outside. It is a very spacious area floored by polished granite tiles and lit by hanging candelabra.

BEDROOM 3
Decorate similarily to the other bedrooms, this bedroom contains a single bed with room for a double. Wooden laminate flooring and painted matt white.

BEDROOM 4
In the style to the previous bedrooms, the large main bedroom offers plenty of storage space, air conditioning and luxury. Wooden laminate flooring and painted matt white.

BATHROOM 2
A truly enormous second bathroom downstairs features wooden and granite bathroom units as well as a large, quarter circle bath and shower. There are also two sinks, a bidet and toilet. Again, the bathroom is unusually luxurious and comfortable for a Portuguese home, feeling much more like a western bathroom abroad.

CITY AND BEACH DISTANCES:
The historic city of Coimbra is 37km (41minutes) away whilst the beaches of Figueira da Foz are a quick hop down the motorway, being 81km away and roughly 1 hour 15 minutes.

THE AREA:
Cabo da Aldeia is in the council area of Penela, a beautiful, cared for community with many traditional festas throughout the year. The council are also keen to encourage development, and have built swimming pools, cinemas, libraries and internet cafes within their jurisdiction.

Penela is an area surrounded by Roman ruins and historic castles, set high in the mountains and hills surrounding this rich region. The town of Penela iself was established as long ago as 1137, with the church of São Miguel, overlooking Espinheiro, built within it’s walls. The medieval part of Penela deserves a visit: amongst the houses you can discover the Manueline style pillory, the Renaissance Church of Stª Eufémia and the beautiful Misericordia Square and church.

NEAREST MARKET:
The nearest market is in the town of Penela, roughly 5km away from the property. On Thursdays residents from outlaying villages make the journey in to sell their garden grown vegetables, self-raised meat produce and fish caught fresh. Besides this, the ambience is one of meeting friends, having a chat and getting the week's essentials. Everything you can think of is on sale here, including the occasional used car! On market day this sleepy town experiences a little hustle and bustle, as besides the market, all other shops enjoy an increase in patronage. The best time to pop in to the market is between ten or eleven in the morning, when the best produce is still available and fresh.

LOCAL ROADS:
The roads in the immediate area are all of tarmac or, in some cases, maintained stone track. Any car would be comfortable driving throughout this area.

AMENITIES:
Penela is a historic town with modernisation in mind. To this extent, the council have been very quick to improve the lives of it's residents and those in surrounding villages who rely on the town for health and education. Penela features supermarkets, post offices, a modern, well staffed hospital and health centre, English speaking dentists, old-age home, schools and creche. Bread delivery vans still zip throughout the surrounding villages, however the town centre has a fantastic bakery should you miss morning delivery. Within and immediately around Penela there are also several wonderful restaurants each serving their speciality version of traditional Portugese classics and home grown wines.
